TCF and TEF are widely recognized French language evaluation tests that provide confirmation of your level of competency in French in any professional, academic or mobility related context. They allow you to obtain a simple and precise evaluation of your language skills, valid for 2 years from taking the test.
TCF test has been conceived by the French Commission for international matters in the field of education (France Education International), while TEF test has been conceived by the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIP). Both tests are equivalent in structure and difficulty.
The TCF and TEF examinations consist of 5 tests, among which 3 are compulsory and 2 optional, according to your goals and
the formalities you need to complete. The timing of optional tests is set accordingly. You can take these tests as many times as
you wish, but you must respect a 30 days delay between two tests.
The tests are evaluated on a scale with 7 levels, from level 0 (most basic competencies) to level 6 (complete fluency). The results of
the TCF & TEF tests ensure that candidates are reliably positioned on the Council of Europe's 6 levels scale (from A1 to C2).
