Alliance française is more than a school!

As a key factor in furthering French language and francophone culture in tune with the city’s cultural scene, Alliance Française Hangzhou, the only French cultural center in the city, produces and promotes various cultural events, working in collaboration with other French organizations and other cultural institutions as appropriate.

Our cultural goal is to give an insight of the French and Francophone cultures by bringing the French speaking world closer to you through year-round cultural and social events such as meet-ups, workshops, lectures, exhibitions and concerts.

Alliance française encourages and promotes active, open connections between people and French language and culture. It provides the means by which people can become engaged in the many different aspects of the French culture including art, books, poetry, history, gastronomy, contemporary affairs, thoughts and ideas.

Our events are a unique opportunity for friends of the French language and culture to come together in an apolitical, non-religious and welcoming environment. Alliance Française is thus an ideal place for art lovers, professionals, children and their families. All are welcome to relax, learn and discover.
